Close to the eastern border between Uganda and Kenya, on the slopes of the mighty Mount Elgon, the Tangwen community grows outstanding Arabica coffee. Here, the cherries are hand picked when perfectly ripe and then left to air dry naturally on raised beds. This ever more responsible and knowledgeable approach is enhancing the purity of the coffee this land produces, transforming every bean into a shining example of excellence.
The community of Tangwen is made up of smallholder farmers, with deep ties to the land surrounding Mount Elgon. Here, traditional growing techniques are blended with more innovative methods to obtain the very best from every harvest. This is how sustainable practices are being developed which safeguard the land and enhance the quality of the lives of the families who live there.
